Lemon Bostok: 4/17/26
100 Morning Treats by Sarah Kieffer
Got 100 Morning Treats (subtitle here) by Sarah Kieffer at the library. Many of the recipes look very delicious, but #51 lemon bostok seemed quite fast to put together... especially if you've made the components the night before so you can just slap it together in the morning. I did not, so it did take a good chunk of my morning up. I don't know how legally gucci it is to reproduce the recipe, but for this one, you don't really need one anyway. You can find recipes for the components anywhere on the interent.
- Buy a brioche loaf (or make it yourself)
- Brush slice with simple syrup (flavored with alcohol ofc) (forgot this step)
- Smear slice completely with frangipane/almond cream (comes together in 20min, including the time to get ingredients out)
- Smear lemon curd on top of frangipane, as thinly as able (this will not be very thin) (comes together in 30min)
- Sprinkle almond shavings on top (had some lying around)
- Bake 18-22min at 375 F, or until the frangipane is desired color (I like just golden brown on the edges)
- Garnish with powdered sugar, mint, and raspberries (or nothing you do you king)
I followed the book's recipes for both the frangipane and the lemon curd, and they turned out well. I ended up having to do a half batch of the lemon curd, since I only had three eggs (two eggs yolks, one whole egg for halving), meaning both recipes turned out about 1 cup worth of material. For the frangipane, that's enough for ~10 slices, and for the lemon curd, maybe ~12?
All in all, the recipes worked and were quite delicious. Will hopefully make some more before librarians shows up at my house with pitchforks demanding their book back
